{The Master} Bedroom Reveal via Hi, Sugaplum!

I know it's like a tennis match over here lately, with the back and forth between houses...but we worked so hard prepping the old house for sale and a photoshoot, so I want to be sure and share those final projects with you. That way I can wrap up the Home Tour for our memory banks, too.

If you recall, the Master Bedroom makeover came on hot and heavy...we had barely gotten started (with just new bedding), but the magazine added the room to their shot list, not to mention, we unexpectedly needed to sell the house...so we had to crank it in to high gear. Basically the opposite of how I usually operate!

HOW TO DISTRESS PAINT WITH VASELINE

I’m at the tail end of re-decorating my living room right now, and although at this very moment it looks like complete and utter chaos, it’s actually starting to all come together. I’m down to the little finishing touches like pillows and accessories, and I’m beyond excited to show you all the full reveal of what the space looks like! Because I’m sure you’re all dying to see where I curl up and watch my favorite reality TV shows at night, right??
One project I tackled this week was the area above my faux fireplace. Earlier this year, I made these awesome-sauce DIY Barn Wood Shutters that I just adore. They were super easy and cheap to make, and it added a ton of texture and dimension to that blank wall space. Seriously, LOVE them. What I didn’t love… was the color I picked. (You can see the original color here.) I wanted to keep the shutters a natural wood color to let all the beautiful wood grain show through, but the color I chose didn’t go well with the two-tone paint job I did on the fireplace mantel. Bummer, dude.
So I took this opportunity to test out a paint trick I’ve wanted to try for a loooong time, and it worked so perfectly that I decided it deserved its very own blog post! It’s THAT good! If you’re a fan of vintage, distressed furniture but not into the hours upon hours of sanding it takes to achieve that look, this tutorial, my friends, is for you: How to Distress Paint with Vaseline!

HOME TOUR

We purchased my childhood home and we are taking on the task of renovating this 1950’s diamond in the rough for our family of 4. I’ve seen this home in so many stages and it is fun to put our own style and personality into it. It’s a mix of traditional, modern, and bright pops of color. I update this as we complete rooms. Enjoy and welcome to our big project!

How to get your dishwasher and dishes sparkling clean!

One of the household chores I dislike the most is washing dishes!  So I try to do as much as I can in our dishwasher.
Not only do I dislike this chore, but what I find really frustrating is when I open the dishwasher of ‘clean dishes’ only to find stuck on food and spotty watermarks on my dishes and glasses! It’s such a pain to have to rewash and dry them by hand!
I’m trying out this new product:  FINISH® JET-DRY® Rinse Agent and FINISH® Dishwasher Cleaner to see if it’ll be an easy and effective way to get my dishes and dishwasher sparkling clean! Here’s my review and opinions…(I was amazed!):

Ginger Detox Bath Soak

Anybody else out there counting down the days to Spring? The weather starts warming up (at least in Texas!) and it’s inevitable that I start dreaming of beautiful gardens, sweet baby birds, and little kids running around in linen. Unfortunately, while I’m ready for Winter to be done, the cold/flu season isn’t quite done with us yet. The second I start to feel under the weather, I whip up this Ginger Detox Bath Soak and combined with a good night’s rest, I usually feel 10x better in the morning!
